    Ask permission issue

    Hello,

How do I set ZA Free Firewall to ask whenever an a program wants to connect to the internet, and remembering permissions for those allowed?
I don't remember ZAF ever asking.
In the View Programs list there are lots of question marks right of the individual software (which I assume means ask), but never happened.

    Thank you.

Sorry to hear you still have the problem. If you set application control as already described in one of the previous posts + Defecne net on Auto then you will receive notifications for all those programs that are not the in Defence Net database. However, at each new update or changes of programs you may be notified again as the program has changed. To avoid repeated notification there are specific ZA application options you should turn on to lax the ZA controls. Apparently in the free version those options are not available. There may be also issues with other security software that mat clash with ZA and create these issues. All of this is very difficult to troubleshoot unless in front of the PC.

    Sorry again.

Resetting it did not work, still get the message.
I uninstalled the software and don't get it.

I'll try to find more info on the ASUS AI software.

In the Application Control tab, if Network Firewall is Max, and Defense Net is set to Auto, will there be any notifications?

Can you access to the "options" button? If yes, then tick on "Authenticate program by full path only" and "changes frequently". You may also want to set the trust level to "No enforcement" (This will basically turn off any program control of the executable).

The Options button is greyed out for all programs.

Setting it on No Enforcement (Custom/Auto) still gives the notification.

How can the ZA databases be reset?

This part did not fit in the screenshot:
    Product name GpuFanHelper

I've tried to set SmartDefense on Auto or Custom (for GpuFanHelper only).

    Thanks for the link.

It works how it's supposed to with one exception, a suspicious behavior:

GpuFanHelper is trying to load the driver:
    WINDRVDIR\IOMap64.sys

    Application:C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AI Suite III\DIP4\GpuFanHelper.exe

Reinstalled the application (AI Suite 3).
Set GpuFanHelper to Trusted in programs and enabled the connection settings. Tried it with Custom and Auto.
Removed GPUFanHelper from the list, rebooted, clicked remember settings, rebooted again. Same issue.

It keeps asking for permission on each reboot, even though I select remember setting.
